The Golden Globes Part II

In Style Star Reviews on January 18, 2010 at 6:27 pm

This is the not so nice part, nothing against these particular actresses their look last night was just not my taste.

Diane Kruger in this hot pink, bubble number did not do it for me. It was so much for someone so naturally beautifully. She could have toned it down a bit.

Everyone was perfectly correct last night in their assertion that Mariah Carey already has her two globes. This was too trashy for the Golden Globes. She was hanging out and it just made her look wide.

I love Zoe Saldana, but this dress looked like it was put through a shredder. It's too much fabric hanging off her tiny frame. The color I liked and the top wasn't bad, but the bottom looked like old drapes.

Drew Barrymore looked fantastic las night...except for her dress. I loved the color, it was a great shade for her and the hint of shimmer. However, I could not get over those things that look like coral on her shoulder and hip.

Tina Fey is magnificent, but this dress last night did not do her justice. It was a little too youthful. She looked a little like an umbrella herself. Plus with the dark palette, she didn't have any great jewels to snazz it up.

My least favorite of all, Chloe Sevigny in this drapy, flowy gown. The moment she stepped onto the red carpet, I thought jelly fish. The color had no pop, it didn't flatter her shape at all, and there's just to much fabric all over in every direction. Final thoughts, I'm glad Chace Crawford stepped on her dress and tore the back.

The Golden Globes

In Style Star Reviews on January 18, 2010 at 6:14 pm

So this will have to be a two-parter, my personal best and worst dressed of the 2010 Golden Globes. Even though many reporters have been very kind this year saying everyone looked fantastic, that is simply not true. We’ll start with my favorites and then move onto the looks I did not care for. Let’s get started!

My favorite! Not only because I love Sandra Bullock and fully supported her win last night, but look at the color of that dress. The rich purple compliments her brown hair, stlyed impeccably of course. I love the fitted bodice with the organza bottom.

Olivia Wilde definitely topped her Emmy dress. This was sophisticated and sexy without being too over the top.

Emily Blunt looked radiant in this light airy shade of pink. I loved the differeny layers, how it made it looked textured and a bit messy.

Penelope Cruz was so elegant in this black dress, with the lace detail around the neck line and a full mermaid bottom. My favorite quote of the night was from her "I'm not Puff Daddy I can hold my own umbrella."

I loved Kate Hudson in this white number. The structured top was magnificent. She did everything right, the hair, the makeup, the jewelry. She's definitely my #2 favorite!

For such a young actress, Lea Michele looked so grown up and classic in this big black gown.

Lea Michele's costar, Dianna Agron also looked positively glowing in this sheer, flowy number.

Of course, Heidi Klum made my best dressed list. She looked like a modern day Cinderella in baby blue. I loved the sheer fabric draped around her arms.

Last but not least, Toni Collette. What I loved about this dress, was not only how it hugged her body but the beading was outstanding.

Keep Up

In Style Star Reviews on January 17, 2010 at 8:35 pm

“Keeping Up with the Kardashians” is pure genius. The Kardashian family is prime entertainment, they’re hilarious, classy and fashionable, especially Kourtney, Kim and Khloe. While it all started with Kim and her classic beauty, Khloe and Kourtney are just as beautiful and entertaining, hence their spin off show “Kourtney & Khloe take Miami.”  They always look put together, even in pregnancy Kourtney remained a fashion plate. Of course this isn’t surprising as they own their own clothing stores, Dash. They mix classic style with trendy pieces, which works for each of their very different body types. Unlike some reality tv stars, the Kardashian sisters manage to keep their makeup clean and complimentary to their natural beauty.

Penelope

In Style Star Reviews on January 10, 2010 at 8:25 pm

I have always admired Penelope Cruz’s effortless beauty, her dark thick hair, her big eyes and her tan, clear skin. Many times I have tried to mirror her sultry look, but no one can pull off smoky cat eyes and tousled locks like she! Just recently I was finally able to watch the 2008 flick “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” in which Penelope stars along with her real life beau Javier Bardem. As I watched I fell in love with the light airy fabrics, the Spanish scenery, language and Penelope’s portrayal of Maria Elena, Javier’s incensed ex-wife.

She Must Be An Angel

In Style Star Reviews on January 3, 2010 at 8:16 pm

Some of the most beautiful women are none other than the Victoria’s Secret Angels, Heidi Klum, Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Miranda Kerr, and Gisele Bundchen. With their long wavy locks, perfectly tanned skin and sculpted abs women all over the world idolize these angels. They also have style, because when you have a perfect body what doesn’t look good? Let’s take a gander, shall we?

Reese Part II

In Style Star Reviews on December 17, 2009 at 1:24 am

A continuation of the “Reese Witherspoon Hair Style Gallery,” as I like to call it. We will go even further back to review the many phases of Reese’s gorgeous locks!

A cute little pomp with shoulder length locks.

A sleek ponytail with blunt bangs.

A cool, relaxed bob.

Long seductive flowing locks.

Gigantic curls.

An every-day look, long layers with a flip.

A slicked back bob.

Reese with darker brown hair.

A choppy bob.

There are many more looks of Reese but this a my short gallery of photos, which I think represents her versatile hair.

Reese

In Style Star Reviews on December 17, 2009 at 1:11 am

I am appauled at the recent rumors of a break up between Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal! I think they are the cutest, most wholesome star couple. But all entertainment issues aside (this is a style blog after all) there are too many things to love about Reese. I fell in love with Reese the second she stepped onto the silver screen in hot pink heels as “Legally Blonde” when I was in my tweens. Of course she’d been acting long before that; Reese has starred in films such as, “The Man in the Moon,” “Pleasantville,” “Cruel Intentions,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Vanity Fair,” “Walk the Line,” and more recently, “Four Christmases.” Being in film for that long of time we have watched her style evolve with her age, but the one constant she has held onto is her great hair. There is no hair style Reese Witherspoon cannot pull off! Trust me, I have twenty photos to prove it and I wish I could post even more. This most likely will have to be a two parter, so bear with me!

More recently, Reese with long locks and blunt bangs.

Reese with shorter hair and big curls framing her face.

A sophisticated up-do, with a side part and swept bangs.

Channeling Marilyn Monroe with a glam 50's hairstyle.

A fun, youthful look. Voluminous hair with a tight headband.

Sleek pompadour and bun.

Soft, waves with a side swept bang blended into the hair.

Middle part up-do, with little free wisps of hair.

A more casual look, half-up half-down with a subtle tousle.

The Twins!

In Style Star Reviews on December 12, 2009 at 4:58 pm

If your mind went automatically to Hef’s new girlfriends then please leave this blog right now. No, I am talking about the famous moguls, Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen! From birth they have been loved in homes all across America. I grew up with them and have loved them every step of the way, except for that horrible movie “A New York Minute” or something like that. I have admired their evolution of style from “Two of A Kind” to “Holiday in the Sun” to now! They believe that fashion should be fun and they don’t let trends dictate their wardrobe. Ashley once said in an article, that she walks into her closet each morning and puts on whatever she feels like wearing that day. Although every now and again they will step out in some crazy get up that even I can not comprehend I applaud their fearless attitudes and hope many more would acquire their courageous view on clothing!

It’s Not Easy Being “Greene”

In Style Star Reviews on November 3, 2009 at 5:14 pm

Kristen Stewart might be the star of the hit series Twilight, but Ashley Greene is the fashionista. Ashley plays “sister” Alice to Edward Cullen aka Rob Pattinson in ”Twilight.” As a vampire she is made up very harshly with white pale skin, red lips and eyes that change color nevertheless her character is the stylish one. With only a couple small films under her belt her real break  through came with the Twilight series like so many others. Yet she’s already widely known and has been linked to celebs such as Chace Crawford. Her style is hip and edgy but also soft and playful at the same time.

Jennifer Aniston

In Style Star Reviews on November 3, 2009 at 2:55 pm

I am team Aniston, sorry Angelina, but I love Jennifer Aniston. I think Brad Pitt made a huge mistake and I hope Jen finds love and happiness. Anyways, Jen burst into our lives on the hit sitcom “Friends” (which I have seen all 10 seasons of thanks to my college roomate) since then she has made some great movies and some lukewarm ones. More recently she has starred in “Love Happens,” “He’s Just Not That Into You” (which was hilarious by the way), “Marley and Me,” and “Managment,” and ”The Break-Up,” with Vince Vaughn. She is always classy, looking naturally beautiful without a lot of pomp. She looks like your next door neighbor, the one with the million dollar closet of course, but she never over does it. I think many girls in their twenties could take a page from her book and realize less is more.
